Armys have long been complaining about the lack of English subtitles on official content, lamenting that the band holds millions of global fans yet still relies on fan subbers for help.
While parent group Big Hit Entertainment eventually addressed the issue and has since added relevant subtitles to BTS videos, the innovative company is now taking things a step further, encouraging and helping fans to learn their language instead.

Learn Korean with BTS

Via the group’s global fan community app, Weverse, BTS is releasing a series of short clips to help fans learn Korean and move a step closer to understanding their beloved idols. According to a press release from Big Hit, Learn Korean with BTS will feature 30 different episodes, each just three minutes in length to deliver optimal, condensed information in a short bite.

The first three episodes were released on Tuesday (March 24) and subsequent episodes will be dropped every Monday at 9pm KST via Weverse. All episodes are free – you only need to set up an account on the Weverse app.

What do the fans think?
Many fans have perceived the move as a smart retort from Big Hit to their previous complaints, joking that the company was basically telling them to learn the language instead of relying on subtitles.

It is good to hear that Big Hit also plans on creating more videos in the future using content from other artists – so who might we be learning Korean from next?
